We flew over the reservoir in a helicopter last Thursday. The entire reservoir still had ice, but there are a large number of 5 to 10 foot circular open water holes developing in the ice. None of the bays are opening up, and even the ladders area is still solid ice. We didn't see any anglers, so the ice is likely getting slushy. Several parking areas are plowed. There are special regulations for Strawberry, so please read the Utah Fishing Guidebook before you fish the reservoir.

Slow
There is open water. DWR Biologist Jordan Nielson found—and released—a 43-inch, 17-pound northern pike in a recent gillnet survey. (That pike is still in the reservoir, so you still have a chance to catch him!) The walleye and northern pike are looking very healthy. May and June are usually the best months to fish this reservoir. For current conditions, visit www.stateparks.utah.gov.
